THE AIM OF SYA IS: “To enable young people in Shropshire to have access to quality, affordable and appropriate youth provisions”
The Challenge Award is the perfect way to engage young people in building characteristics and life skills they need to successfully guide them through life. We understand the importance of young people developing resilience, self-confidence, and greater understanding of the world around them, and committing themselves to the Challenge Award is a great way for them to do so. It’s a fantastic way to bulk out the CV while having a great experience, and they’ll also gain an accreditation at the same time!
There are a number of topics that young people will delve into during the Challenge Award through discussions, tasks, and games such as:
- Critical Thinking
- Managing Conflict
- Health Minds
- Healthy Relationships
- Your Voice
- Risks and Opportunities
- Online and Community
The best bit is that any young person in your Shropshire youth club over 11 years old can complete the challenge – either as a whole youth club, or individually by attending workshops with young people from other youth clubs across Shropshire!
Young people will be placed into ‘Award Groups’ with their peers and will be introduced to other young people from Shropshire, encouraging collaboration and support from one another throughout the Challenge Award.
Young people will be asked to attend a number of workshops which cover topics specifically chosen for the Award and for Shropshire’s Young People. Participants of the Award will need to design their own challenge and will have to plan the steps they intend on taking to achieve their goals.
SYA project workers will be on hand to offer guidance and support throughout the Challenge, and they will ensure no one is out of their depth and will be waiting at the finish line to celebrate completion of the Challenge Award!
